Have you ever awoken in the morning feeling fatigued or having a raspy irritation in your throat? Do you Sneeze or cough regularly? There is an "air battle" going on in your home and here are just some of the negative elements you are battling against as you rest.

What are allergies?
An allergy is a super reaction of your immune system to certain substances present in the environment. These substances can cause sneezing, wheezing, and coughing. Allergies are not only annoying, but many have been connected to serious chronic illnesses of the respiratory system (such as asthma and sinusitis). There is hope, allergies and the diseases the cause can be controlled.

Think about some of the substances that create common allergic reactions
* Mold from plants and food, which are most likely to cause asthma
* Pollen, especially ragweed, which causes hay fever
* Dust and the dust mites that accompany those particles
* Pet Dander or common pet debris

POLLEN
Pollen from plants and trees is one of the top sources of seasonal allergies. In summer and spring pollen granules are expelled into the environment and the air we breathe, causing recurrent rhinitis, commonly also known as hay fever (sinus/nasal allergies). A single plant or tree may expel millions of pollen particles per day. People with allergic reactions to pollen can develop sensitivities to other allergens such as mold spores, pet dander, and dust mites

MOLD
Molds are a top reason of recurrent allergic rhinitis. There are thousands of varieties of mold types. It is typically mold spores that produce mold allergic reactions. A singular mold growth can produce millions of additional spores.

Molds can be found anywhere oxygen and moisture are at hand. Inside your home environment, molds can originate in bathrooms, humidifiers, air conditioning, basements, and anywhere dank like carpet or walls.

Mold allergies are caused by inhaling whole spores from mold. Spores then are lodged in the upper respiratory system, in the lungs or both where they cause irritation and thus allergy symptoms.

DUST MITES AND HOUSE DUST
In the home, the most important causes to allergies are dust mites. In reality, clinical studies show that allergic sensitivity to the common dust mite is the most regular reason of allergic reactions in asthma sufferers.

What are dust mites? Dust mites are microscopic cousins of spiders and ticks that do well in warm, moist areas. The dangerous allergens are actually found in the fecal matter of the mite. These allergens are sent airborne and are easily inhaled into the lungs and respiratory system. Dust mites in the home primarily feed on dead skin cells that are regularly shed from humans and animals.

These Dust mites do very well in carpets, upholstery, and mattresses. The average sleeping quarters can be contaminated with millions of dust mites. Consider the amount of time the average person spends in their bedroom each day and it becomes clear why mites account for the allergy discomfort of millions of Americans every day.

PET DANDER
Signs of allergic reactions to pets include watery and itching eyes, sneezing, hives, stuffy nose, soar throat, coughing, post nasal drip, and breathing problems.

Astonishing, pet hair is not considered to be a very significant allergen. Most pet allergies are caused by proteins that come from glands in the skin of the animal. These proteins are deposited in skin particles or sometimes called dander. This dander goes in the air and is the cause of respiratory unease.
